Is it legal?

Is it legal?

Is it legal?

Hands down the most asked question I get.

Is it legal to grow poppies and buy and sell the seeds? The shortest most straight forward answer in America is for food and because they are pretty.

As far as where I am goes it is not legal to score a poppy pod and collect the sap but no one does that anymore on either side of the law. Now, I do not think it is legal to take poppies once dried and put them into a food processor to render the plants into a dust to make tea out of it, or to eat the pods raw to get rid of pain but it is legal to eat the seeds, so the answer is really as gray as the question.

It’s illegal to produce anything with these plants generally speaking. I hope you and God are responsible because I won’t be there once you have the seeds. What you do with them is between y’all. If you choose to make them part of your diet, there are many good recipes.

I do not advocate breaking the law. I have been forced into a position before by circumstance where the option was break the law or let the law break me though so… I will not judge you for considering all options BUT what you do with these seeds can and will be held against you if you are up to no good. Even considering the fact that if you’re using the plants it shows up as a nonspecific opioid which could be explained by a prescription to an opioid.

It’s legal to buy and have the seeds, it’s legal to buy and have the books. If you get charged with drug manufacturing having the books can get you in trouble.

I suggest you have the seeds and books in case you need the medicine one day and civilization collapses. I would not however buy the seeds, grow the plants, read the books, and have everything you need to save yourself because the temptation to save yourself will be too great and you will be tempted to break the law. Either that or inspired to change it.

None of this has been legal advice as you need to look up the laws that govern over you yourself. Do not take anyone’s word on what the law is, but I will give you two bits of legal advice. If you ever get in trouble for anything, say nothing (tip one) and hire a lawyer (tip two).

God bless.
